Family of Major Harry Schmidt continues fundraising with Fall Art Auction !!

JUNE 24-St. Louis---After yesterday’s dismissal of charges against their son, the family of Major Harry Schmidt, US Air Force fighter pilot implicated in the friendly-fire accident of four Canadians in Afghanistan in 2002, announces it remains cautiously optimistic over the latest development in his quest to clear his name.

“We are relieved and hope all goes well with the July 1 hearing at Barksdale AFB, LA,” says Joan Schmidt mother of Major Schmidt. “Yet with all this encouraging news, we still need to continue our efforts to raise significant money for his defense fund.”

Plans for a Fall Art Auction fundraiser are proceeding as scheduled. Ms. Schmidt has worked tirelessly for donations of art from artists all over the metropolitan area. These and donations of hotel stays, restaurant dinners and other desirable specialty items are growing daily and people from all over are pitching in to assist with the set up and implementation.

“I am a retired art teacher, and art is what I know.” adds Ms. Schmidt. “People have been wonderful in their outpouring of support, yet we have a way to go.

I have been covering the city for months, literally door-to-door, bringing in donations and support of all kinds. Right now it is more important than ever, that I reach the public for contributions.”
